[ARTICLE] [2016 KPOP Summary]③ President Jang Wook "TWICE's #1, Symbolizes the Success of JYP's Transformation"

“TWICE's number 1 on annual chart is the result of showing how successful JYP Entertainment's new system has entered."

President of JYP Entertainment, Jang Wook (Present as JYP below) said, "The first group  revealed to the public after JYP has changed our system is TWICE," and that the number 1 of 'Cheer Up' on annual (music) chart represents the meaning of this transformation.

On the 21st, President Jang Wook had an interview with EDaily in which he confessed, "TWICE has just started. The road where they shall not forget their root and should walk along is still long", still he could not conceal the satisfaction on his face. "Regarding the outcome, it's already passed the line of success," and "the execution (of the new system) is definitely better than we planned to be", President Jang Wook expressed his joy.

Title tracks composed by the actual head of the company, Park Jinyoung for every rookie group's debut seemed to be a tradition made after JYP's establishment. With the title track 'Like Ooh-ahh' of their debut album that's sold in October last year, 'Cheer Up' and 'TT' are all composed by Blackeyed Pilseung. This shows the success of the change in system where JYP staff's opinions are all collected and a title track is chosen based on that. Lowering the dependence on a specific person also means that JYP's preparing the ground where they can have a long-run for the 10 years henceforth.

The fact that the revenue raised by TWICE does not take up a huge part of the general revenue of JYP this year is something more encouraging. Regarding to the revenue made by TWICE, President Jang Wook said, "They're the 4th coming behind 2PM, Suzy and GOT7," and "during the time when the revenue of our company is changing, TWICE is holding up their position and their potential is even bigger from now on".

Although JYP has been classified as one of 'Big 3' along with SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment, it is true that JYP falls behind the other 2 in terms of revenue and scale. While the other companies were growing, JYP couldn't even confidently say that they're the 5th in the industry. However, not only idols like TWICE and Wonder Girls, solo singers such as Baek Ayeon and Baek Yerin had their songs placed at number 1 on real-time charts right after release this year, and have distinguished themselves in the digital music market. They've also been making steady results in overseas. JYP has written the start of their new leap.

“We're planning to firm up JYP's system. The anxiety is still here. Including TWICE, we have various plans for our company's artists and are carefully preparing for next year.”
