Q. TV drama “Uncontrollably Fond” has finished, you must be happily resting now
Heheh, just passing the time by cruising around. I used to like driving to Paldang Dam, lately I really enjoy driving around with no destination. I don’t have any particular hobbies, when I’m on break I go for a drive or drink with friends. Ah, I don’t go for a drive after drinking. Ahaha
Q. Don’t you drink by yourself?
Eat alone, drink alone. I’m only like that at home, I’m not like that when I go out. Before I go to bed I’ll drink a little bit of canned beer and then go to sleep. Actually it’s not that I don’t know how to cook, it’s just that I don’t cook hahaha. I can still cook pasta or soybean paste soup and such, but it’s too troublesome to make. I just cook ramen by myself.
Q. “Uncontrollably Fond” finally finished. You’ve prepared for a long period of time. From the viewpoint of the conclusion there seems to be some regret
Although filming completed in April, preparations began last September-October, indeed we prepared for a long time. I really loved this role, so I did have some areas of regret about how I expressed it. At the final dinner the actors and staff members got together and watched the last episode, I suddenly started shedding tears.
Q. It seems like you also had a little to drink that day
S: Uhm. A little much...hahaha
Q. Uploading the script for “Uncontrollably Fond” on SNS became a hot topic. The script had become worn out and tattered, you loved the drama and No Eul [T/N: name of Suzy’s character in the drama] that much. For Suzy, what sort of meaning did “Uncontrollably Fond” and No Eul have?
That (the day the picture was uploaded on SNS) was that day (final episode dinner). [I] posted on Instagram while drunk (laughs). I was really happy during filming, I learnt a lot. Compared to what kind of meaning, my love for the drama and character remained deeply. After the broadcast ended, it was as if I came out/seperated from No Eul.
Q. Please assess your own acting, out of “Uncontrollably Fond”, “Gu Family Book”, “Big”, “Dream High” and “The Sound of a Flower”, which role do you believe you accomplished to the highest degree?
In that case, it’s the most recent No Eul? Although people felt as if it didn’t meet certain expectations, I adore the drama and character nonetheless. If you look at the characters I’ve acted so far, it seems as if there is a lot of my own likeness. No Eul is the most like me recently. The roles I played in the past also displayed my likeness at the time.
Q. Out of these which role left regret?
They all have areas of regret. To act them again I don’t have the self-confidence to do a good job. But during “Dream High” I really was lacking too much, I feel that “If I were to act now I could do it well”.
Q. Up until now most of your characters have been tough and capable. When can we see Suzy in the role of an evil woman?
S: Always been very positive. I have given thought to this before, it’s as if I can experience charm from strong and disciplined as well as tough women. I will try to challenge a sexy role in the future.
Q. You debuted as an actor through “Dream High” in 2011, without realising you have already starred in 6 works. Can you feel that the list of your projects is increasing?
Every time I finish a project, the list of works accumulates. I give my best effort at every second. My acting parts have also increased.
Q. Don’t you look forward to joining the list of countless actors or to receive greater rewards as an actor?
I haven’t thought about it specially. I only want to be healthy (laughs)
Q. Without realising, Suzy has already become the same idol that remains for girl groups. As soon as a new girl group debuts they promote a “second Suzy” kind of title.
In regards to “second Suzy” I don’t have any feelings of burden. I spend more thoughts about the comparisons only being thankful. Anyway, I only need to guard well (my own position).
Q. Are there plans to come back as a singer?
Been preparing all along. (From activities as a singer I) have rested for a long time, now it’s time to come out. Because it requires a lot of careful preparation, [I’ve had] much distress. I’d like to release an album by the end of this year and don’t know whether or not that can be achieved.
Q. What differences are there between your dreams after debut and seven years later as Suzy now?
Back then I just very vaguely wanted to stand on the big stage and be the best. Now my dream has changed. It’s changed to a simpler and smaller dream. After debut it’s very difficult to say what phase I’ve achieved to. I’m still in progress now, hahaha
Q. Besides acting and singing is there anything else you’d like to try?
I originally didn't have any fantasies of travelling. Lately I've wanted to have time for myself. Recently I was in Australia by myself for about 7-8 days. I went to New Zealand to shoot an advertisement in the past and that was also really nice, France’s Mont Blanc village as well. If I have the time now I’d like to go to rest at somewhere where I can experience serenity.-----------
